Having worked in law offices for 28 years +, it was time for a change. As a lifetime resident of Osgoode Township (now in the City of Ottawa) I was born and raised in the country and dogs had always played an important role and held a special place in my life. In fact, my mother had a registered kennel which bred and showed Shelties. So my childhood was spent in the midst of dogs, puppies and going to dog shows.
Flip forward 4 decades through the raising of 2 sons and a lengthy career as a legal assistant and it was time for a change. My husband and I have a lovely hobby farm just south of Ottawa. A perfect spot for our 3 dogs – 2 labs and a boxer.
An acquaintance of mine had a dog walker who came to her home and took her dog as well as others to an open area near the airport |

to run off leash. She graciously allowed me to accompany her one day on her dog walk and I loved it.
What a concept especially in view of the decline in the number of dog friendly parks. I could do the same thing on our farm BUT an enclosed, safe area was a must. We fenced in a beautiful spot of mature pine, spruce and open field with a 5' chain link fence. When I drive the doggie van through those gates, the passengers can't contain their barking and excitement. Its truly wonderful to see the expression of a dog that has never been off leash before let alone had a gang of buddies to run and play with. What a job!
However, there's really nothing like seeing it all for yourself so please bring your canine pal(s) with you to check it out. Just call first to arrange a time.
