Welcome to Dog-Gone Country Kennel

Proud to offer crate free boarding for your best friend!

Are you going to be away (vacation, business, moving child to or from university, family emergency, …) and need to find a home away from home for your beloved four legged family member?  In business since 2004 and a registered kennel, Dog-Gone Country is a family run operation which offers loving care for your dog in our own home.

Please take the time to “paw” over our brand new website to learn more about us, our services and the benefits that Dog-Gone Country Kennel offers to your best friend, K9.

Thank you for visiting, and please feel free to contact us!

Whether it be for one night or several weeks, your pet will be staying at their second home, Dog-Gone Country. We offer in-home care (not a separate building) and your dog will not be caged or crated (unless by request of the owner). Rather they will enjoy the air-conditioned comfort of a “living-room” area which they will share with their buddies. Dogs are grouped according to age, size and personality. Our back yard is fenced for potty breaks and just lolling around.

If your dog is on medications, we can administer that at no extra charge. Nor will be there by any add-on charges for our walking (see below) or the “one on one” attention they will receive. Because we are a small operation, we are very accommodating on pick-up and drop-off times provided that is arranged beforehand.

Twice a day, Jan or Gary takes the doggie guests for a lengthy outing. All of the walking/exercising is done off leash in our heavenly playground of four acres. There they can socialize with others and run free, the only confinement being the 5′ chain link fence around the entire perimeter. To ensure the safety of your cherished pets, all canine participants are always accompanied on their walk by their human guide(s) Jan or Gary.

Being a small, home based kennel allows us to get to know our boarders and their individual personalities. All dogs spend a good portion of their time with Jan & Gary in their living space. Yes – it’s sometimes chaotic and we love it.

Because we are a small operation, we can offer flexible pick up and drop off times provided we are given adequate notice.

When you drop off your pet, you will have peace of mind knowing your pet:

  • is not in solitary confinement but is staying in a home and not crated or caged
  • has human love, attention and contact on a regular basis
  • has the company of and the interaction with other canine companions
  • enjoys the benefit of lots of off leash exercise and play
  • will have all medications and supplements administered at no extra charge

As owners and live-in operators of Dog-Gone Country, one of the most heart warming “testimonials” we see is from the dogs themselves, the second and subsequent times they come to stay. Happy to arrive, they very often run into the backyard without a backwards glance. Many owners have told us their dogs become excited as soon as they turn the corner onto our road. Please read on to get some human testimonials.

“Our dog (Tilley) has been a regular at Dog-Gone Country for the last six years. It has become a home away from home for her. She is always excited to visit, often jumping out of our car and into the kennel before we can even say good bye! Jan knows what Tilley needs and always ensures that her stay is a happy one.”

“We’ve been boarding our dogs at Dog-Gone Country for almost eight years. Our dogs were crate-trained as puppies, but neither one enjoyed the den aspect of a crate and we gave up on it after the initial house-breaking period. Therefore we were very glad to find a “vacation home” that allowed them to be around people, other dogs and each other rather than a traditional kennel/run setup. The garage, converted into a dog hotel and lounge, is ideal for them! Each time we drop them off, they bound out of the car ready to play with friends in the yard and go for long escorted walks with Jan around acres of fenced-in property. They come home happy, healthy and tuckered out. We’ve been able to go away knowing our dogs are in the best of care. In fact, on our last holiday, Jan e-mailed us to see if she could take one of them to the vet to check for an ear infection. We appreciated this so much, as the infection was caught and treated before we got home. We have recommended Dog-Gone Country to many of our dog park friends, and everyone has been equally happy and impressed.”

“For Brandy, spending time at Dog-Gone Country is like going on her own vacation. For me, it’s peace of mind while I’m away. I know that Brandy is being ver well cared for with lots of runs and play time with the other dogs, which she loves! Jan becomes familiar with her clients so they are more than just another “boarder”. When Brandy returns from her vacation, she’s just like me – tried and ready for a rest!”
